Our Engagements

Three advisory engagements, each with a defined scope

We do not offer consulting that can be shaped into whatever the client has in mind. Each of our engagements has a specific purpose, a defined process, and a fixed price — which you can read in full on this page.

Our Approach

How we structure our work

Before any engagement begins, we spend time understanding whether the work is one we are well positioned to do. This is not a formality — we turn down engagements where we do not have the relevant background, or where the scope is unclear enough that the firm would not get reliable value from it.

Once an engagement is agreed, we follow a structured sequence: preparatory work, fieldwork, synthesis, and written delivery. The sequence varies in length depending on the engagement, but the basic discipline — no fieldwork without preparation, no writing without fieldwork — applies consistently.

We do not use templates. Each written summary is written fresh, drawing on what we found in this engagement for this firm. What we bring is a consistent method of observation and analysis, not a standard report structure filled in with new data.

Engagement 01

Agribusiness Strategy Review

A four-week engagement for established agribusiness firms — palm oil mid-streams, rice millers, fruit and vegetable wholesalers, regional plantation operators — whose leadership teams would value a thoughtful outside reading of how the business is presently positioned and where attention might most usefully be placed. The review includes a site visit, a structured working session with the principal, and a short written summary of considerations. The deliverable is brief by design and intended for use inside the firm rather than for external presentation.

What is included

  • Preparatory review of available business documentation
  • One site visit (travel within Klang Valley included; further sites billed at cost)
  • Structured working session with the principal or senior leadership
  • Written summary of positioning and considerations (6–10 pages)
  • One round of written clarification after delivery

How it proceeds

1

Preparatory week

We read documentation you provide — financials, operational reports, relevant contracts — and prepare a site visit plan.

2

Site visit and working session

We visit the primary operation site and conduct a structured session with the principal or senior team. Half a day, well-prepared.

3

Drafting

We write the summary. We may return with a small number of follow-up questions during this phase.

4

Delivery and close

The written summary is delivered on the agreed date. One round of written clarification is available within two weeks of delivery.

Engagement 02

Cooperative & Smallholder Engagement Advisory

A considered engagement for agribusinesses whose operations depend on relationships with smallholder farmers or cooperative arrangements. Over ten weeks we sit with the firm's field leadership and, with the firm's consent, with cooperative representatives, to document the present arrangement, identify where it is working well and where strain is showing, and prepare a written framework for the relationship going forward. The intent is sustainable working over multiple seasons, not a quick reset. Includes regional travel and is suited to firms operating across two or more states.

What is included

  • Review of existing cooperative or smallholder agreements
  • Sessions with firm's field leadership (up to three visits across states)
  • Sessions with cooperative representatives (with firm's written consent)
  • Regional travel across Peninsular Malaysia included
  • Written relationship framework (15–20 pages) including observations and forward structure

How it proceeds

1

Weeks 1–2: Documentation review

We review existing agreements, seasonal records, and any prior correspondence between the firm and cooperative parties.

2

Weeks 3–6: Field visits and sessions

We visit field operations and meet with both firm leadership and, where consent is given, cooperative or smallholder representatives.

3

Weeks 7–9: Framework drafting

We compile observations and prepare the written framework document, with a mid-draft check-in with the firm's leadership.

4

Week 10: Delivery and handover

Final framework delivered. A closing session is available to walk through the document with the firm's field leadership.

Engagement 03

Land & Resource Operations Review

A senior engagement for established agribusiness groups whose land bank, leasehold arrangements and resource operations have grown over time and would benefit from a thoughtful redesign of how those assets are being managed. Over five months we work with the leadership team to document the present arrangement, map the points where it is creating friction, and prepare a written review with a phased programme of considered adjustments. We do not advise on tax or land law, both of which remain with the firm's specialised counsel. Includes monthly steering and a closing presentation to the board.

What is included

  • Full asset documentation: land bank, leasehold terms, resource allocations
  • Friction mapping — identifying where the current structure is creating operational cost
  • Monthly steering sessions with the leadership team (five sessions)
  • Written review with phased adjustment programme
  • Closing presentation to the board

How it proceeds

1

Month 1: Documentation and scoping

Full documentation review and initial steering session to align on the scope of the review and what will be assessed.

2

Months 2–3: Asset mapping and friction analysis

We map all assets, review leasehold terms and resource allocation structures, and identify where friction is occurring and why.

3

Month 4: Drafting and review sessions

We draft the written review and phased programme. Two steering sessions in this month to check assumptions with leadership.

4

Month 5: Final delivery and board presentation

Final written review delivered. Board presentation conducted at a time of the firm's choosing in the closing month.
